1. About these terms

These Terms of Service govern use of the Viden study application ("the service"). By providing the service to students and staff, a school agrees to these terms. These terms are published publicly and are available to schools before use of the service.

2. The service

Viden is a curriculum-aligned study and practice application for Victorian secondary school students. Accounts are created and managed by teachers; students do not self-register.

3. Accounts and eligibility

• The service is intended for use by school students and staff, arranged through the school.
• Students under 18 use the service under the school's supervision and its own enrolment and ICT consent arrangements. We do not require or collect parent/guardian consent directly; this is managed by the school.
• Account holders must provide accurate information where information is required. Student accounts use a display name only and do not require real contact details.

4. Acceptable use

Use of the service is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, published at https://videnstudy.netlify.app/acceptable-use. Misuse may result in account suspension.

5. Intellectual property

• We retain ownership of the Viden application, its content, and its design.
• We do not claim ownership of, or any licence to copy, alter, distribute, perform, or display, any user-generated content beyond what is necessary to operate the service for the school. We do not use user content for advertising, market research, or AI/ML training.

6. Data and privacy

Our handling of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, published at https://videnstudy.netlify.app/. Data is stored and processed in Australia.

7. Account termination

• A school or teacher may stop using the service and request deletion of accounts at any time.
• We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of the Acceptable Use Policy. Where we intend to terminate an account, we will give the school reasonable prior notice except where immediate action is required for safety or security.
• On termination, data is deleted in accordance with our Data Deletion and Retention Policy.

8. Availability

We aim to provide reliable access but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We will inform schools of significant disruptions in accordance with our Backup and Business Continuity Plan.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not seek to absolve ourselves of liability through non-public documents.

10. Changes to these terms

We will notify subscribing schools before material changes to these terms take effect. The current version is always available at https://videnstudy.netlify.app/terms.
